Big Dog ascends the right overhanging arete on this formation. The big landmark is a very overhung start, up to a big volleyball-like sloper midway up the first section.

This route has fun overhanging moves and leads to an interesting vertical face for the second half. The grade has settled in at 12 a/b with appropriate beta.  The entry moves to gain the Volley ball hold are a blast. This leads to fun and varied face climbing on the headwall up to the anchors. Overall a stellar route.  Kudos to Nelson and Rolofson for equipping this route and having the vision to establish this formation.

big brother. You get the same fun starting moves as

, but then you finish with powerful bouldering and crimping straight up the prow. This is a great entry level 13b. It shares anchors with

Mighty Dog

.

This is the best and hardest line on the Dog House formation.  The route pulls through the big overhang just left of

Big Dog

, and cranks through the roof on small crimps to a good jug.  Some interesting moves up the overhung beginning gain a beautiful rest, followed by the crux sequence on small holds.

Do you like flying dynos out roofs? If so, then this might be for you, because that's exactly what you'll find on the crux of this route! Begin with the bouldery 12+ crux of

Runt of the Litter

, then pull a couple of moves before firing out the steepest part of the roof to latch the holds at the lip.

I bolted this route last year and never red-tagged it since I could never stick the move going to the lip of the roof. It's epic! Ben came out with me and sent the route in only a handful of tries, barely taking any rest between goes, so impressive! He says the crux dyno is around V10, but it will also depend on your wingspan. It might be possible to do without dynoing, but that would be pretty burly as well.

This route is way overhung and powerful, with fun moves.  However, the disappointing use of manufactured holds on this route warrants the single star rating (although these holds are bomber). This is the second route from the right side of the overhang, and ascends the steep lip using an obvious drilled slot on the face. The rating on this was initially 12c/d, but the consesus seems to be that it is actually 12a.  Consider it a gym route and it will be fun and worth the effort.

climb the crimpy face to a crack you can layback.  Surmount the bulge and up to the first set of anchors at a huge ledge.  Climb past 4 more bolts (crux) to a second set of anchors which are shared with adjacent route.

Left of the existing routes at the Dog House, Li'l Dog climbs a pocketed slab to an overhanging prow.

Start with your left hand in the middle a lot and your right hand on a sloper. Follow seams straight up.

Li'l Dog

to

Snoopy

, but it is a reasonable addition for those choosing to warmup more gently or for those wanting something mellow with a slight Black Canyon feel to it. Darren Mabe lists this in his excellent guidebook.

Start on the 2nd from the left set of bolts.  Ascend up on big holds with longer reaches with the crux around the 4th bolt stepping up and slightly right.  Then glide into easy terrain below the roof.  There are multiple exits to the left to link up with the upper bolts of

Snoopy

into the fun stemming to the anchors.

This is a pretty fun route, although there are two manufactured holds.

Start with hands in the seams midway up and to the right of

Grooveline

. Use an insane drop knee or campus around.

Climb the crimpy face (crux) up to a small, left-facing dihedral to the anchors.  Or climb on the face for higher difficulty instead of waltzing up the dihedral.

The Runt of the Litter ascends the seam in the main part of the roof left of

Mighty Dog

. Easy slab climbing brings you to a good rest. From here, you punch out the middle of the intimidating roof following a seam with just barely enough holds in it. Precise movement throughout the seam spits you right into the crux of

Mighty Dog

. Runt is a little shorter than

Mighty Dog

but much harder, and it has much more sustained, technical, roof climbing. I felt like the movement of this climb was super classic, but I only gave it 3 stars due to the climb being a little dirty (it is brand new as of now, it will clean up with traffic) and the glue reinforcement on

Mighty Dog

. All in all, it is a really unique climb with thoughtful and precise movement throughout. The Runt of The Litter was bolted by Jay Samuelson and TJ Sanford.

The Underdog begins far right at Dog House in a nasty dihedral. One can either stem up the dihedral for half the route or pull up on to the exfoliating face for some thrutchy moves on slopers and sidepulls.

It's hard to tell what was the intent of the bolter. The bolts are easily clipped from the dihedral at which point the climber reaches some large chockstones to begin the decent climbing. If climbing the face, it is difficult to remain off the neighboring

Dog Run

to the left. The face is certainly harder.

After choosing your own adventure through the beginning, enjoy the overhanging hand crack through the roof to the anchors.

The bottom half of this route is truly bad, but the top half is pretty good and a novelty for CCC, so maybe it's worth a try.

This route was initially given a 12a rating, but the general consensus seems to be more in the range of 11b.  This is a fun route that ascends the left side of the overhang with an interesting hand traverse into a killer crack for a few feet.  Overall, this is an enjoyable route with good protection and fun moves.
